Chanterelles, Fall Creek, December 2003 (The BEST Soup I Ever Made!)

See how hard a chanterelle is to see!? Uncovered a little bit Yes, it's a chanterelle. The cap has a tendency to collect lots of the forest floor on it... Almost there! It's a little bit cleaner now. Success! Nearly a pound of delicious chanterelle! The first haul of chanterelles. Hee hee! So happy! These things were being sold at $20 a pound at the stores... Chanterelles ready for cleaning, which is quite a task. Cleaned and ready for cooking. Dry saute is the way! You lose the water and gain the flavor! Chanterelle soup. The most delicious soup I ever made. Some honey mushrooms. I fried the stems and they were yummy!
